What We Are Learning: June 2024

Math

  • Using place value (100s, 10s, 1s) to count on and add 
  • Equivalency: 10 ones = 1 ten, 10 tens = 100, 10 hundreds = 1000
  • Addition and subtraction within 200

Literacy

  • Recount stories, including details about character, setting, problem, and resolution
  • Explain how beginnings and endings in text relate to one another.
  • Using capital letters, end marks, nouns and verbs correctly when writing

Social Studies

  • What is a map? How do we use maps?
  • NYC neighborhood: Sunnyside




  • Students learning about the flag of Trinidad and Tobego

Home Connection

  • Please make sure your child arrives at school by 8:05am.

  • Ask your child what he or she learned in school daily.

  • Check your child’s homework folder daily.

Important Dates

  • Friday, November 1: There is no school because of Diwali.
  • Tuesday, November 5: There is no school for Election Day.
  • Thursday, November 7: We will have parent-teacher conferences.
    • This will be a half day of school, and students will be dismissed at 11:25 AM.
  • Monday, November 11: There is no school for Veteran’s Day.
  • Friday, November 15: There will be a Parent Association meeting at 6:00 PM.
  • Thursday and Friday, November 28 and 29: There is no school for Thanksgiving.
